A practical sequence for building a coherent series while respecting your church tradition.
Read each scripture passage in the translation your church uses. These reflections are original Mosaic commentary, not a Bible translation.
Many gifts. One living body.
SESSION 1 · Luke 24:13–35
Begin with the congregation
Listen before planning. The Emmaus story connects conversation, scripture, hospitality, and recognition. Gather what your congregation is carrying this season.
Discuss
What needs language in worship? What should remain quiet and held?
Put it into practice
Record the season, congregation context, desired participation, and one central question.
SESSION 2 · Psalm 100; Colossians 3:16
Develop a scriptural arc
Read passages in context. Choose a scriptural thread across the weeks, and use your tradition’s lectionary or worship norms where appropriate. Music supports the text rather than replacing its meaning.
Discuss
What does each passage contribute? Where might we oversimplify it?
Put it into practice
Build a week-by-week table: passage, theme, theological emphasis, response, music options, and accessibility.
SESSION 3 · 1 Corinthians 14:26
Invite many gifts
Participation can include reading, visual art, testimony, prayer, movement, instrumental music, and silence. Prepare contributors and agree on length and boundaries.
Discuss
Who can contribute beyond the usual platform leaders?
Put it into practice
Confirm contributors, rehearsal times, permissions, lyric licensing, projection checks, and alternatives for people who cannot stand or hear well.
SESSION 4 · Psalm 90:17
Rehearse and reflect
A coherent service needs clear cues and realistic transitions. Evaluate participation and understanding rather than assuming attendance proves success.
Discuss
Did the service help people engage with the scripture?
Put it into practice
Assign a service lead, create a cue sheet, rehearse transitions, and hold a short review with two strengths and one next change.
