MOSAIC RESOURCE · SELF-GUIDED

One Body. Many Gifts. One Mission.

A four-session small-group journey through belonging, gifts, mutual care, and a shared next step.

Read each scripture passage in the translation your church uses. These reflections are original Mosaic commentary, not a Bible translation.

Many gifts. One living body.

SESSION 1 · 1 Corinthians 12:12–27

Gather as one body

Read the whole passage before discussing individual gifts. Paul connects unity with practical care: no member can dismiss another as unnecessary. Invite each participant to describe one experience of being welcomed and one moment of feeling overlooked. Allow people to pass.

Discuss

Where does our congregation make belonging easy? Whose contribution is harder for us to recognize?

Put it into practice

Pair participants to name one gift they have noticed in each other. Ask consent before sharing publicly. End by recording two changes that would make participation more accessible.

SESSION 2 · Romans 12:3–8

Receive different gifts

Gifts are received and exercised with humility. Avoid treating gift lists as fixed personality categories or spiritual rankings. Listen for quiet gifts as well as visible leadership.

Discuss

What work brings life to others? What responsibilities have become a burden?

Put it into practice

Create a voluntary gifts map with interests, availability, access needs, and preferred ways to serve. Do not assign roles without consent.

SESSION 3 · Galatians 6:2; 1 Corinthians 12:25–26

Practice mutual care

Shared care includes joy, grief, and practical support. A small group supports people; it does not replace qualified clinical care or safeguarding procedures.

Discuss

How do we notice when someone is missing? How can we offer help without pressure?

Put it into practice

Agree on a consent-based contact rhythm and a named coordinator. Keep prayer requests confidential within the limits your church explains.

SESSION 4 · Ephesians 4:11–16

Choose one shared step

The body grows through participation, truthful speech, and love. Choose a small action that fits the group rather than attempting every need at once.

Discuss

What can we do together in the next month? How will we know whether it helped?

Put it into practice

Choose one action, owner, date, modest budget, and review point. Ask the people affected how they would like to participate.
